Altair Image Erecting Prism for 1.25" astro eyepieces
The Altair Astro 45 Degree Erecting Image Diagonal is designed to convert the upside-down and reversed image produced by an astronomical telescope to a right-way-up and correctly orientated left-to-right image.
That means you can use your astronomical telescope for daytime viewing, with a more comfortable 45 deg viewing angle for land-based objects. Even mid-range astro telescopes can provide very detailed views of objects several miles away, with more magnification and light gathering power than even expensive spotting scopes.
It's the perfect accessory for terrestrial viewing - for example bird watching, game viewing and long distance spotting.
All standard 1.25" astro-eyepieces will fit into the erect image prism. The prism comes with two plastic end-caps.
Q: What's the difference between an erecting prism and a "mirror" or "star diagonal"?
While star diagonals correct a telescopes inverted image, they don't correct the left-right orientation. For terrestrial viewing with an astronomical telescope, you need an erecting prism to achieve a natural un-reversed view. To put it another way you can now read text the right way round!
