Stellarvue telescopes
Stellarvue telescopes are individually hand made in the USA in Auburn, optically tested and individually inspected by Vic Maris, founder of Stellarvue. We've found Vic's passion, enthusiasm and belief in his product are contagious, and we recommend these scopes for imaging or visual use where engineering and quality are important. Due to stringent quality control, some models are in stock and some require a waiting list - please contact us for details. We recommend you join the friendly and helpful Stellarvue Yahoo User Group to hear more about other customer's experiences.

SV90TBV Stellarvue 90mm F7 Fluorite Triplet (Binoviewer Ready)  £1595

Stellarvue 90mm triplet APO

Stellarvue 90mm triplet APOStellarvue 90mm triplet APO

Stellarvue spent three years designing what they consider to be the ultimate grab and go telescope. This telescope is as light and portable as an 80mm short tube, yet it delivers 90mm of full apochromatic performance, with 1.27x more light grasp and resolution in a similar size. To ensure excellent colour correction, contrast and a perfect star test, Stellarvue chose an APO triplet design using a Fluorite centre element. The OTA is designed to work with a Binoviewer, featuring a two section tube. Remove the rear section, and binoviewers come to focus without Barlow corrector lenses. Highly rated by users, handmade one at a time in Auburn. The IDEAL air hand-luggage portable companion for the Astrotrac TT320 - see here for more

SV4M 102mm F6.4 ED Oil Spaced APO Triplet (Binoviewer Ready, "Deluxe" version)  £2500Stellarvue 90mm triplet APO

"I always begin by performing a star test....both out-of-focus images were identical, proving the SV4's optics are superb.....The SV4 is one of the finest apochromatics sold today. If you purchase this scope, it will give you years of satisfaction, whether this means travelling to your backyard or flying half way around the world." Phil Harrington, SV4 ED triplet review in Astronomy Magazine, October 2006"

The SV4 102 comes with a 2" Feather Touch Crayford focuser, clamshell mounting ring with dovetail base, F2 multi-reticule reflex finder, finder base and C12 aluminium case. It has a two part main tube, allowing you to unthread the rear section and use binoviewers, without the need for optical correctors. The SV4 triplet lens uses a very high homogeneity Super ED glass. 3 elements result in a flat field, highly corrected, air-spaced triplet optical design that is free of zones, eliminates secondary colour, astigmatism, coma, spherical and higher order aberrations. FMC coatings are used on all six surfaces enhancing light transmission and contrast. The lens will perform on par with any high end instruments on the market and visibly outperform cheaper mass-produced optics.

These telescopes are assembled entirely at our Auburn California facility and tested to ensure they provide exceptional performance. Like all Stellarvue telescopes, each one is star tested by Vic Maris. This telescope may be used visually, photographically and with binoviewers. Most refractors require Binoviewer adapters which reduce field size. The SV 115T refractors are Binoviewer ready, allowing for the widest possible field when used with binoviewers. Altair only sell the SV115T35 version of this scope with 3.5" Starlight Feathertouch Focuser.

OTA Package:

Stellarvue SV5 5 inch F7 triplet APO SV5S 127mm F7 ED APO Triplet (Oil Spaced with Pearl White tube colour)
We could go on about the incredible planetary images this scope can deliver and it's high contrast wide-field deep sky performance, but why not see what other Stellarvue owners think. Featuring Stellarvue's amazing 5" f-7 oil spaced objective. This optical tube assembly comes with the rock solid Feather Touch dual speed 3.5" focuser with 2" and 1.25" adapters, deluxe CNC dual mounting rings, retracting dew shield, oversized 6" diameter tube with deep, spherical shaped baffles for the highest possible contrast, aluminium covers, and hard side case. The telescope comes in a lustrous pearl finish. Deluxe F2 finder and base is included. This telescope may be carried on a plane. The focuser is mounted to the OTA with a knurled ring that allows the owner to remove it. The tube assembly is then only 21" long, fitting well within an airline sized travel bag. We try to keep at least one of these premium scopes in stock. If we don't have one, a 25% deposit will be taken when you order. This will place you on a waiting list, and the balance will be due when your telescope is finished.

Lens cell

Temperature stable, push-pull lens cell with front adjustments

Tube engineering & Light Baffles

Alcoa 6061-T6 Aluminium tube, lathe turned for accuracy and weight reduction without flexure. Powder coated exterior with special textured, ultra flat black coating inside for high contrast. CNC generated spherical light baffles with knife edge installed according to the minimal baffle method to reduce reflection without Vignetting.

Dew shield

7" diameter X 12" length. Dew shield retracts over main tube. Uses a lock screw with internal compression ring to maintain "squareness" when extended.

OTA Dimensions 21" with focuser removed in airline travel mode, 28" with dew shield retracted, 36" with dew shield extended. 6" Tube Diameter
Mounting Rings

Hinged, CNC machined aluminium with rubber grip on knob, five threaded 1/4-20 holes top and bottom. Black anodized finish.

OTA Weight

About 9kg / 20lb. (Aluminium tubing is sufficiently thick enough to eliminate flexure. Thinner tubing would be lighter, but could degrade performance).

Optical Performance

True apochromatic performance. The objective provides a wide, flat field, perfect star test and no false colour whatsoever. Rapid cool down time. Extremely high contrast full multi-coatings result in exceptional high contrast performance both visually and photographically.

Mechanical Performance

3.5" Feather Touch Focuser provides smooth, backlash and flexure free motion with adjustable tension mechanism. Will lift all eyepiece/camera systems commonly employed, will operate with binoviewers without optical correctors and operate in normal single eye mode with provided threaded extension. Ideal for imaging.

What's special about Stellarvue optics?
Unlike mass-produced import telescopes, all Stellarvue lenses and mechanics are built to very tight tolerances.  For example, SV115 lenses are individually hand figured by a master optician to achieve the best possible optical null. These lenses are tested with interferometric devices, a Zygo test machine and actual star test to check for colour correction, spherical aberration, astigmatism, coma, and zonal aberrations. Only when the optic passes this battery of tests, is it approved for sale. Join the Stellarvue Yahoo User Group here.
