The EQ8R Mount: The EQ8R is a new version or the popular heavy duty Equatorial mount from Skywatcher, with more connection options and enhanced drives. Head weight is 25.3kg, with high 50kg payload capacity. The mount ships in a high quality flight case with wheels, plus 2x 10kg counterweights allowing it to operate near maximum capacity right out of the box. The mount fits onto a pier or tripod with a central M12 bolt protruding upwards into the mount base.
The Altair EQ8 Pier Adaptor: For smoother, easier polar alignment, a smooth rotation is essential, as is a level, flat surface. This large, smooth surfaced CNC machined adapter plate has a stainless steel fixing kit and M10 threaded hole for an Azimuth stop bolt.
Skywatcher EQ8 key features:
Quiet in operation, the EQ8-R is supplied with the Synscan Go-To handset and can automatically find and track over 42,900 celestial objects from its extensive computer database.
This version is supplied as the mount head only, to install onto a static pier. Two 10kg counterweights and the Synscan computerised handset are supplied with both options. The mount is also compatible with the optional Synscan Wi-Fi adaptor and Synscan Pro Apps which can control the mount wirelessly.
Improvements over the previous EQ8 model include:
Cable management system for reduced tangling.
Improved Connectivity
Improved installation position of motors for improved balance.
Improved clutch mechanism provides more holding strength.
Improved dovetail groove knob for added comfort and increased locking power.
Belt drive on the DEC axes for quiet slewing
